Taking away floof points?
« on: February 08, 2015, 06:21:04 am »
I was looking at someone's profile, and saw this:

Apparently, there was once a way to remove floof points from someone. Any information on this?

Shake it!

There used to be a "bite" option along with the "nuzzle" option but it was eventually removed to encourage a more friendly environment and idea to karma in the community.  Around that time is when the whole Floof o Meter came into existence. Basically the "bite" option worked like the "nuzzle" option just in reverse by subtracting down by one point of the karma/floof count. Some people were abusing of the "bite" option on others just to lower their karma. There were some users who liked the low karma though and actually encouraged others to bite them so that's why you might see some folks with exceptionally low karma/floof. The people with negative floof counts are just relics of that old feature xD

Mhm, I can see. But why was 'bite' there in the first place anyways? Wouldn't it be obvious people would be abusing it? And why would you have a feature that allows you to 'hate' on people? Not trying to be mean, but it's kind of strange to have such a feature.

Hmm
I am very happy the bite thing isn't around anymore. I do not favor being bitten. xD

Aye, I wouldn't mind being 'bitten'. Haters can hate, but I can shake it off, shake it off. x3 Plus Floofs/bites are anonymous, so it wouldn't quite matter anyway. Unless they were PMing you hurtful things as well.

ah well obviously the staff thought of that; anyway, this sort of feature is usually a default feature with almost every forum out there -- since FH's forum was made on createaforum.com, it has such. --- (oh, really? :v on the bottom there's a link that goes to createaforum so i figured it was made there, whoops)

The FeralHeart forum was not made on createaforum.com though just to be clear.  :P

All SMF installed on an apache server if I'm not mistaken, being run and maintained by Razmirz. The karma option is something that comes with SMF that you can either enable or disable. As mentioned before in the post we run it in a little special manner to avoid great abuse of the system and spread of negativity around the board.

Just a bit more fun and happy the way it is now.
