IP and/or email blocked by Botscout

A buddy of mine was trying to make an account here now that registration's open, but even with a fresh, new, clean email and a computer that FH hasn't been on before, they got this: "IP and/or email blocked by Botscout". So I guess they're thought to be a bot? Weird. Any ideas to fix this?

It might be because that your e-mail might be blocked on your wi-fi...? If you could go into further detail that would be great.

Well, I'm not quite sure what details you want. He made a brand-new Gmail account for this, but I know nothing of his wi-fi.

Could you possibly tell me what this Botscout is? Cause' I've never heard of it before.

Well, it seems to be something to keep bots from registering on a forum.

Maybe have your friend look into it and see what it's about? If your friend can't find anything, then it's most likely a virus.

No, I don't think this is a virus or anything. BotScout (a program that helps identify spamming bots vs. real people on the forum) has been giving several users issues lately, and Raz has been wrestling with trying to figure out why exactly it has been blocking some from making new accounts.

I'll bring this to his attention, since it seems to be acting up again. If he can look into it tomorrow, he may be able to fix it, but if it's been a few days and you're still getting the same issue, feel free to send me a PM and we'll see what we can do.

Oh, that explains it. Thanks for clearing this up. The problem hasn't been able to persist, though, since registration was only up for that small window of time... Hopefully, we have better luck next time it's up. XD
